Ball Room Dancing Showcase in Stockton Ca

Rick and I participated in our first Ballroom Dance Showcase. What started as dance lessons to help us learn a few dances for our next Cruise has turned into an activity we both enjoy and plan to continue. We performed two dances for the Showcase. Above was taken during our East Coast Swing !

We also danced a Fox Trot. We actually made it through the entire routine without a mistake!

Our daughter in law 'Amanda' joined us for the showcase. Our own cheer leader.

Thomas's visit August 2010

Our Grandson came to visit us for a week in August. I experienced several 'firsts' that week. First time Rock Climbing (Rick's first time also). Rick is braver than I am. He climbed to the top and slid back down to the ground using the rope! I didn't trust that rope! I had to climb down as well as up! By the third time up, I was able to propel down part of the way (I don't do heights well). I made it about 2/3 up the rock and that was high enough for me. That darn rock actually sways when you get about 2/3 of the way up (more realistic they say!). I also played Lazier Tag for the First Time (I won! Rick's gun was broken so it didn't register his hits, or so he says! I think he missed!) Sorry, no pictures of the Lazier Tag, to dark in there.

BACK ON THE GROUND! A SAFER PLACE TO BE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thomas, our Master Climber!!! He climbed all 4 walls, clear to the top!

Nothing wrong with his appetite! He ate the whole thing!

Family Reunion August 2010

Yes, we had dogs too! This is our daughter's (Angie) dog. He is very well behaved.
Our niece (Lisa), and her daughter (Ashley). I think Ashley really enjoyed the playground!

Rick's mother is the cute one in pink! Rick's sister is the blond (Diane). Leland is Diane's friend.

Our first family reunion in over 8 years! We got together in Montesano Washington at Lake Sylvia. It was a wonderful day. Here are our 4 children (from left to right: Tammy, Carol, Angie and Adam).

Reno Ballroom Dancing Showcase

Rick and I are learning Ballroom Dancing. Initially, we just wanted to learn a few steps so we can dance something other than Be-Bop while on our Cruise. To our surprise, we have found that we both really enjoy this style of dancing ,and have discovered a couple local Ballroom Dance clubs that put on dances a couple of times a month. Some of our instructor's students performed routines at this Ballroom Showcase in Reno. We were invited to join the group as spectators. Open dancing between performances allowed opportunity for spectators and performers to practice their steps. It was a fun day. We have been invited to perform a routine at the Stocton Ballroom Showcase in October. We accepted the invitation. Now to decide on which dance and the music.

Spring Tea (Church) Theme: HAT'S!!!!

I was asked to be a Table Hostess for the Tea. Hostess's have the responsibility (joy) of setting up and decorating a table for 7 guests. I used the beautiful china given to me by my husband and mother in law. I had such fun making the little sandwhiches! I must confess, I bought the strawberry swirl cheese cake ( it was the perfect color for my table!).

You probably know that I enjoy hats and have quite a collection of my own. I usually wear one to Church on Sundays so have become known as the "Hat Lady" (better than the "Bag" Lady!). The hats displayed on the tables belonged to a long time church member who passed away a few years ago. Her daughter gave them to another church member who brought them for our enjoyment. Many of the guests borrowed one for the Tea. Some of us wore our own! It was a lovely day.

Mothers Day

Mothers Day was a beautiful day this year. We enjoyed a nice sermon in church, lunch out and time in the yard!

A New Day

Spring is such a lovely time of the year. I enjoy long walks and working in the yard. I planted a few new bulbs and have been blessed with their beauty!

Monday, February 8, 2010

You can imagine my surprise when I looked out the kitchen window this morning (February 8) and found so many daffodils in bloom! Spring is here! I love California!

May I have this dance? What this cat will do for attention. I am talking about the 4 legged one!

Cold February Day

A cold February Day, Church in the morning, lunch in town and back home for the SUPER BOWL! Go New Orleans!

Merry Christmas!

We had a joyful, quiet Christmas this year. Our daughter Caroline was here to celebrate the birth of our Savior with us. Rick and I flew to Texas the morning after Christmas to spend a couple days with our Son and his wife. We had a wonderful visit.
